Control Clearance Around the Product

A cavity should not simply match the product outline exactly. Too much clearance can allow the item to shift. Too little can make the product difficult to insert or remove. Finger notches, pull areas and deliberate edge clearance can make access easier without sacrificing the fitted appearance. For products with delicate finishes, the insert material and contact points should also be considered alongside the cut shape.

Add Custom Windows and Openings

Die cutting can also create openings in the packaging itself. A window can reveal selected areas of the product while the box remains closed. Shaped apertures can follow part of a logo, bottle profile or other design element. Windows may be left open or combined with a transparent patch where appropriate. The opening should be positioned carefully so it does not weaken important structural areas of the box.

If the insert raises the product too far, the lid may contact it. If the cavity is too deep, the product can disappear visually inside the box.
